In developing the RM2, PMC found a way of constructing the ATL within the very compact cabinet so that it vented to the front, and the same idea was later employed in the TwoTwo range and now here, in the Result6. All the Best! Incredible sound, these seriously outperform my previous speakers. Excited to grow with these speakers" Mr I, Los Angeles. PMC can. Mixes come through perfectly Love these. Highly recommended. The are heads above other speakers at this price point" Mr R, New York. The tweeter dispersion, imaging and ATL are working well in my very small space.
I would say that the stereo imaging on them is grand. They seem to have a much broader sweet spot. Moving around my control room, I felt they pretty much sounded the same everywhere. There is a richness to the sound that I have not experienced before in studio monitors, big or small.
I've heard a heck of a lot of brands in different situations. I am hearing things in reference tracks that I have never noticed, and mixing on them for a couple of hours has already made me a much more confident mixer. I am in a small room with less than ideal acoustics, and even then, the Result6's are deep, wide, and detailed beyond belief. I can't believe how inspiring these speakers are and I can't wait to continue making music on them!
Im truly amazed about that I can hear the ambience and acoustic where everything in the mix is placed and or recorded. For me the best near fields I heard in a long time. Lars Florijn" Mr L, Arnhem. My first impression is that they have a more detailed and flat response over the whole sound spectrum while they still need to complete their running in time. I am very happy with them and can't wait get to use them to their full potential on sound design, mix downs etc here once they've been properly run in.
Looking forward to some fine tuning and high volume. Many thanks. Could not be more happy with these. Stopped 15 years ago due to tinnitus. But now I was in search of small speaker I can work on low volume and was pretty convinced the Result 6 's were the perfect fit for me. So without listening to them I ordered them and what joy to hear so much precise an targeted sound in the bottom line of your range.
Absolutely amazing. The imaging is superb and the depth and width of the sweetspot is just right for my studio. I'm loving the definition. Suppose I have many remixes to do now, but am gladly looking forward to the task with "new ears". Cheers" Mr K, Franklin. When I learned of the ATL technology I thought it might help me get the definition I needed at low volumes - I took a risk based on the reputation of PMC and all of the positive reviews. So far so good! These speakers are certainly the clearest monitors I've ever used, with a wide stereo field and wonderful mid to low-end definition.
I have them up against a wall in a tiny space at low volumes and they sound amazing. Hopefully the neighbours will be as happy as me. I am so beyond happy to be able to honestly admit that they are a complete game changer for me as both a serious fan of music and a professional audio person.
And even though these monitors needs approximately hours to "run in" they already sound absolutely breathtaking. It is simply a great pleasure to listen to these beautifully hand built monitors. I just want to thank PMC and their whole team for making my life significantly better! Lot's of love from Norway! Very detailed and analytical sound" Mr N, Tolyatti. The monitors are able to get out a sweet spot that can absolutely help provide the listener with a feeling of a positive nature, whilst remaining as neutral and as clear as desirable.
Will be using them for play back in my house, Would love to see some active loudspeakers in your consumer line up. Cheers" Mr S, Whistler. I really like them" Mr A, Kefar Yona. The detail they deliver is just unbelievable. I've mixed in dozens of rooms on dozens of monitors and nothing has every delivered what I get from PMC. I'm very happy that you've decided to come out with a set of nearfields in the price range of the Result 6 as now everyone can access these incredible speakers.
Let's hope all music is elevated from the propagation of the PMC legacy! Starita" Mr M, Pinole. Hats off to the team at PMC for designing such a transparent, brutally honest and reliable piece of tech. I would recommend result6 to be the go to choice for music producers, especially considering the price point. Thank you! Needed to pair with a sub to get proper low end.
The D-Fin technology is a great addition. If their built-in amplifiers prove to be more durable than the DSs these monitors will be superb. After eMailing for your advice as to use, reading internet reviews and a home trial from pro audio I am delighted with my purchase which has exceeded all my expectations. These systems freaking rock. The product sells itself. Being here in Nashville, it's also wonderful that there is a team here. Everyone is so cool and helpful.
The Result 6s sound great wherever i sit in the space, not just at the sweet spot and i like the fact that there's no DSP to tweak. They give an accurate, clear sound throughout the frequency ranges and have been the best upgrade for my home studio without question. I simply regret that I could not put them horizontally and that there are no railings on the boomers if I need to move them. Thank you for selling such good speakers at reasonable prices. I was a bit worried when I first turned them on as they didn't sound as balanced as in the store, but they're sounding much better now.
Subjectively, the ATL design also seems to bestow the monitor speaker with an uncanny ability to maintain its low-end extension and balance even when listening at low levels. These represent an innovative approach to tackling the problem of edge diffraction. In case you were wondering, the Result6 is also 5mm wider, 26mm shorter, 4mm shallower, and 0.
It is well known that the sound waves from the tweeter radiate outwards until they reach the edge of the baffle, where the sudden change in acoustic impedance causes some of that sound energy to reflect back across the baffle, interfering with the direct sound from the tweeter. This causes an uneven high-frequency dispersion pattern and unwanted response peaks and dips. As a result, this clever acoustic manipulation provides a substantially wider listening sweet spot, and a more consistent dispersion of high frequencies into the room.
The tweeter is a 27mm soft-dome unit, and features a neodymium motor system with ferro-fluid cooling. The low end is handled by a new mm 6. Its cast-alloy chassis provides a very rigid platform, while also dispersing heat from the motor assembly. The lower portion of the rear panel is taken up with a flat metal plate which forms the amplifier chassis and serves as its heatsink.
This became no more than comfortably warm during my extended auditioning. The electronics chassis is suspended on four simple rubber isolation mounts to decouple the amplifier circuitry from any cabinet vibration. Not much to see here! Being a good old-fashioned analogue speaker, there are no EQ options or DSP settings: the only control is an input trim knob. A rocker switch on the rear panel powers the speaker, and a standard IEC C14 socket accepts any mains voltage supply between 90 and Volts AC.
A white LED on the front panel alongside the tweeter illuminates when the unit is powered, but turns red if a fault is detected. I found that quite a refreshingly straightforward approach! A second LED alongside the tweeter flashes red if either limiter is activated. After a quick level alignment using a cheap analogue handheld SPL meter and a band-limited pink-noise test signal I was up and running. My immediate impression was that little had changed: the familiar detailed but natural PMC voicing was still there, the imaging was solid, voices sounded natural, and the bass was tight and well controlled.
However, as I worked through my usual commercial test tracks I started to appreciate a slightly cleaner and more extended low end, with better definition and separation of bass instruments. There is also a noticeable improvement in mid-range transparency, and I found it slightly easier to listen into the detail of a mix, which proved particularly beneficial when I started remixing some archive material; in short, I found making EQ decisions a little easier and quicker, which is a very good thing!
However, when I deliberately moved off-axis I found that the Result6 maintained a more consistent tonal balance than the TB2s at the high end, and this does indeed translate into a wider sweet spot. The practical benefit is that you can shuffle sideways to let a colleague listen to a mix beside you without completely messing up the tonal balance or stereo image, and the high-end balance is also more consistent throughout the room. In a direct comparison with my old TB2s I also formed the impression that the precision and stability of the stereo imaging was improved, too.
If I was asked to define what the TB2 should deliver in the Result6 would be it! The professional monitor market is extremely competitive, and a lot of manufacturers are incorporating DSP-rich features like built-in room correction in the hope of gaining a marketing edge.
